Boxes with Distracting Text

If the text on the outside of the box is too distracting, turn the box inside out. Simply pull the sides apart at a seam and then hot glue or tape them back together after reversing. Boxes may also come with flaps. If yours does, have these at the bottom by turning the box upside down. They help keep the box square. Cutting them down makes it easier to work with.

Boxes with No Lids

If the box lid is missing or damaged beyond repair, you can make a new one.

Why to Use Tempra Paint

Tempra paints dry very quickly so you should be able to apply sheets almost immediately after painting.

Figure A: How to Reinforce a Door Jamb

Door Jambs and Anchor Points

To provide a door jamb (stop) and anchor points we fastened a strip of cardboard across the back of the door then taped the anchors at each end (Figure A). The other two anchors are to go on the castle directly opposite where the door stop contacts the wall. Carefully punch holes in each anchor point then thread the rope through these slits. Cut the rope to the right length, and knot at each end. The drawbridge may get a lot of use, so reinforce as necessary.

Figure B: How to Create Added Tension

To create added tension for the drawbridge ropes as the holes wear in the cardboard, glue or tape a block of extra layers of cardboard on the inside slightly offset from the existing hole (Figure B). Raise this block away from the castle wall as indicated with other strips of cardboard to allow room for the rope to make the bend.

Using Grass to Maximum Effect

By wrapping the one strip of grass around a corner of the box, the complete effect of one continuous line of sheets on two sides may be attained.
